As God gives you favor and doors open wide,
Be careful to guard against arrogant pride.
The Lord has exalted many a man.
Yet, He's humbled the same. It is all in His hand.
My sisters in Christ, as a child of God, you are entitled to His favor and His blessings. So you can expect many wonderful gifts to come your way!
However, you must be mindful that you live in a self-centered 'all about me' kind of world. So guard yourself from thinking your life is all about you. Because it's not all about you. Truly, it is all about Jesus. Don't forget this when people lift you up and praise you for things you had nothing to do with.
It is tempting to get puffed up on account of gifts that merely came with your package... your intellect, your beauty, your accomplishments, your talents, your wealth or even your ministry. But you must avoid that temptation. To boast and take credit for all God has given you FOR THE PURPOSE OF SERVING HIM, NOT THE WORLD, is haughty, arrogant and prideful. This is sin. Whatever you have that impresses people, does not belong to you. It all belongs to the Lord. Be humble and remember that "every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father." James 1:17
People are fickle. They will say they 'love' you one day then abandon you the next. Life can change in a moment and all you have can be taken away. When people choose to leave you, know that Jesus is here to stay.
So the next time someone pays you a compliment, just smile, say 'thank you' and give God all the praise and honor, in Jesus' name.
"Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
